In letter from Tihar jail, Manish Sisodia says 'meet outside soon'

New Delhi:

Former Delhi deputy chief minister and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia has written a new letter from jail, saying he will be released from jail soon.

In a letter to members of parliament, the jailed leader said his party was fighting for good education and schools “just like everyone fought for independence”.

“The dream of independence was realized only after the British dictatorship. Likewise, one day every child will get proper and good education,” the AAP leader said.

“Meet you outside soon,” he said in the letter from Tihar jail.

Mr Sisodia, who has been jailed for more than 13 months in a liquor policy case, said even the British were arrogant about their power and jailed Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.

The letter of March 15th read: “The British are also very arrogant about their power and often imprison anyone they want on trumped-up charges. Even they once thought that these prison walls would destroy those who fought for freedom. People who struggle.”

Citing Gandhi and Mandela as his inspirations, Mr Sisodia told residents in his constituency, “You are all my strength. My love for you has only deepened in prison.”

Mr Sisodia was one of the first several AAP leaders to be arrested in connection with the liquor policy scam. Party leader Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and BRS leader K Kavitha were arrested in the case last month, just weeks before the Lok Sabha elections. Another AAP leader Sanjay Singh was also arrested in the case and was released earlier this week.
