AAP issues second order, Arvind Kejriwal sends ‘jail government’ message

Arvind Kejriwal detained by ED after arrest in Delhi liquor policy case

New Delhi:

Two days after issuing the first order, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal issued the second order inside the Enforcement Directorate’s lockup. The chief minister’s new directives are in line with those of Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj regarding free medicines and pathology tests at government-run Mohalla clinics.

Bharadwaj said the chief minister wants to ensure that residents of Delhi do not face any inconvenience due to jail.

“Whether he is in the country or abroad, whenever a vulnerable person goes to a government hospital to buy medicine, he/she should get it. The middle class can buy medicine, but thousands of vulnerable families in Delhi are completely dependent on the government for health matters. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Bharadwaj said, “Drugs are available in hospitals and mohalla clinics. Some of these medications need to be taken for life. “

He added that many people rely on the Delhi government’s Mohalla Clinic for regular blood tests. “The chief minister received information about issues with free testing facilities at some clinics in Mohalla. Therefore, he asked me to ensure that all hospitals and Mohalla clinics provide tests and medicines free of charge. To us, his directive is like coming from Government order.” Oh my God. We will act on a war footing,” he said.

Bharadwaj said Kejriwal was behind bars but thinking about the residents of Delhi every moment. “His only concern is that services will not be affected in his absence. We are his soldiers and we will work round the clock, but we will ensure that Delhiites do not face any inconvenience.”

Earlier on Sunday, Delhi Minister Atish shared the chief minister’s first directive inside the detention house.

Ms Atishi said Mr Kejriwal had asked to ensure adequate water supply to areas facing shortages and to address sewerage issues.

“Arvind Kejriwal ji sent me a letter and an instruction. After reading this letter, I got teary-eyed. I kept thinking who is this person, he is in jail but still thinking about water supply and sewage issues for the residents of Delhi .Only Arvind Kejriwal can do this because he considers himself a family member of the two-crore people of Delhi,” she said.

In response, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari responded that AAP “has already written the script”. “Before this, no one in Delhi supported him (Kejriwal). The public did not express sadness over his arrest. In fact, they were celebrating, distributing sweets, setting off firecrackers and celebrating the jailing of the man who made Delhi cry. Now,” claimed the MP from Northeast Delhi. While the AAP stressed that Mr Kejriwal would run the government from prison, Mr Tiwari said “gangs are run from jails, not the government”.

The chief minister was detained by the Enforcement Directorate for a week after the central agency arrested him on Thursday night in a money laundering case related to Delhi’s now-defunct liquor policy. Previously, Aam Aadmi Party leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh had been arrested in the case. AAP has denied all allegations and accused the BJP-led Center of using the investigative agency for political motives. The party also said Mr Kejriwal would continue as chief minister in custody.
