IIIT Hyderabad launches online IT MS degree course on Coursera: Here’s how to apply online with all the details

IIIT Hyderabad, known for its research-driven education programs, is all set to launch its online Master of Science in Information Technology (eMSIT) for the first time on renowned online learning platform Coursera. The move marks the first time an Indian university is offering a master’s degree program on Coursera. The eMSIT program is designed to integrate industry micro-credentials and facilitate student progress based on prior learning experiences.

Rich learning experience

Expressing enthusiasm about the partnership, Raghav Gupta, Managing Director, India and Asia Pacific, Coursera said, “We are honored to partner with IIIT Hyderabad to bring learners the high-quality, affordable education that this university is known for. The benefits are felt across India and beyond.”

eMSIT’s curriculum includes hands-on projects and expertise in data science, full-stack development, and machine learning. In addition, students will be exposed to artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot. To enhance the learning experience, students will have access to experienced teaching assistants and regular classes conducted by industry professionals.

Prof. PJ Narayanan, Director, IIIT, Hyderabad, highlighted the program’s innovative ‘Learning by Doing’ framework and said, “We are delighted to expand MSIT’s innovative interdisciplinary learning experience. The program’s innovative ‘Learning by Doing’ framework will help a new generation of students successfully start or advance their careers in IT and computer science.”

Build a career in a high-demand industry

The eMSIT program aims to meet the growing demand for technology professionals in India, which is expected to require about 9.5 million technology professionals by 2026, according to NASSCOM. Graduates of the program will be well prepared for lucrative careers in a variety of industries, including finance, healthcare, and software development, with access to online job boards and networking opportunities.

Commenting on the importance of the programme, Professor Raj Reddy, Founding Chairman, IIIT Hyderabad said, “As IIIT Hyderabad celebrates its 20th anniversary, this new program will help us continue our legacy into the future and strengthen Our commitment is to make India a global hub for technology talent.”

The program offers flexibility, allowing students to study anytime and anywhere. The application process is inclusive and welcomes learners from all backgrounds. Prospective students will need a four-year undergraduate (UG) degree with a STEM background or equivalent qualification to apply. Applications for spring 2024 admission will open on July 22, 2024.
