One of India’s most famous cricketers, Sanju Samson has had an interesting journey so far. Samson was a stalwart for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League but he failed to cement his place in the Indian team in all three formats. Ahead of the start of IPL 2024, discussions about T20 World Cup selection are abuzz and Samson was asked about his views on the selection for the national team. The wicketkeeper-batsman gave a brutally honest response that highlighted just how fierce the competition for a spot in the Indian team is.
In an interview with Star Sports, Samson admitted that if someone like him from Kerala has to get a place in the Indian national team.
“When you play cricket in the best country in the world… India are number one in the world… the number of players, the amount of talent and the competition we have… a Someone from Kerala. If he has to come and cement his place in the national team, he has to do something special,” Samson told Star Sports on their show Star Nahi Far.

Talking about his approach as a batsman, Samson said he always believes in standing out and doesn’t mind hitting a six on the first ball he faces.
“I always wanted to stand out with the way I batted… to create my own style. Whether it was the first ball or not, I wanted to go out and hit a six. That was the change in mentality. I wanted to do something different. Why we Having to wait ten balls to hit six? That was my motivation for developing the power shot.”
“I’ve put in a lot of hard work and a lot of people have helped me during COVID-19. I’m happy that things are going well. The grind continues and I’m never satisfied. I just want to keep going and keep playing for the team I’m playing for Do something wonderful,” Samson concluded.
