Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Smriti Mandhana revealed that she could not hear anything during a video call with India stalwart Virat Kohli but A happy look on his face after RCB’s victory in the Women’s Super League Season 2. RCB performed well to win the WPL title for the first time by defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 8 wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. After the match, Kohli participated in the post-match celebrations via video call and spoke with captain Mandana and other members of the team.

In the post-match press conference, Mandana revealed that she could not hear a single word Kohli said to her and that she would meet and talk to him in Bengaluru.

“I didn’t hear anything he said because it was so loud and he just gave me a thumbs up and I just gave him a thumbs up and I’ll see him. He looked happy and had a big smile on his face .I remember him coming in last year and having some pep talks, which helped me personally and the whole team. He’s been a part of this team, I think he’s been there for 15 years, so I You could see the happiness on his face but I couldn’t hear his voice because of the noise, maybe I will chat with him when we go to Bengaluru,” Mandana said at the post-match press conference.

RCB’s spin attack created magic in the first innings, offsetting DC’s explosive start. Sophie Molineux spearheaded the attack but it was 21-year-old off-spinner Shreyanka Patil who ended up being the game-changer for RCB. She took four wickets and removed tail in the blink of an eye to restrict DC’s total to a sub-par 113.

“Shreyanka was doing really well and the first three or four games weren’t going her way and I remember talking to her and she was really frustrated about something and I remember telling her on March 17 that we were going to do something special. Little did she know this was going to happen and she was going to get the purple hat, but really happy for her. She’s a very hard worker because she works really hard and I feel like she’s the best all-around player ever in the last two years. The same is true on the international cricket circuit,” Mandana said while praising Shreyanka.

Heading into the final, DC won the toss and opted for opener Shafali Varma (44 off 27 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes) and skipper Meg Lanning (23 off 23 balls) , 3 four balls) batting, provided an ideal start to the match. The team ran a quick 64 plays in the opening game. However, RCB bounced back and restricted the score to 113 runs.

In reply, RCB chased down the target easily with 3 balls to spare and 8 wickets in hand.
