Police have removed a number of bodies from a funeral director in northern England after concerns were raised about “storage and management processes relating to the care of the deceased”.
Three Branches of Traditional Independent Funeral Home Directors Attacked Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire after the concerns were reported on Wednesday.
Assistant Chief Constable Tom McLaughlin of Humberside Police said officers were moving the bodies from the company’s branch in Hullhessel Road to the local authority mortuary.
Police remain stationed at three of the company’s branches, two in Hull and one in Beverley.
ACC McLoughlin said detectives had been working with local authorities and the coroner and were “fully aware of the circumstances and concerns expressed in reports submitted to us”.

“We have received a number of calls from concerned members of the public and I would like to personally reassure that we are doing our best to make direct contact with every household who may have been affected by the issues reported,” he added.
He said the investigation was “extremely complex and has heartbroken and grieving families at its heart”, adding: “We are determined to ensure families are involved at the heart of everything we do.”
Police have asked anyone with concerns to contact us.
Legacy Independent Funeral Directors is a family-owned business founded in 2010, according to its website. There has been no public comment yet.
