HMD partners with IPL team Rajasthan Royals to enhance brand awareness

On Wednesday, April 10, HMD announced its partnership with Rajasthan Royals as their official smartphone partner. The partnership is for “this year’s high-intensity T20 season”, referring to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). It is worth noting that IPL 2024 started on March 22, but Rajasthan Royals did not play the first match of the tournament until March 24 against Lucknow Supergiants. Today, Royals, who are currently at the top of the table, will take on Gujarat Titans in Jaipur.

HMD explained in a press release that the partnership aims to leverage the popularity of cricket in the country to increase brand awareness in the country. This is expected to “solidify HMD’s position as an innovative smartphone brand.” HMD is currently known as the company that makes Nokia phones. Earlier this year, the company revealed plans to launch its own brand of phones. This move can be attributed to the underlying marketing campaign carried out for this purpose.

In February this year, HMD officially teased a smartphone with clear HMD branding on the back panel. It comes in a matte gray finish and is confirmed to launch in July. This is expected to be the previously leaked budget N159V model, and is rumored to be equipped with a dual rear camera system. Another HMD-branded phone has surfaced online, sporting a glossy pink exterior and a unique black rear camera module. The phone is also said to be similar to the N159V model but may feature a 108-megapixel rear camera.

HMD is yet to confirm the name of its own-brand smartphone.However, the previous Report Claiming that India could be an important market for the company, HMD-branded phones might even be launched in India before going global.

A recent report also suggested that the company may launch a series of HMD phones. They may carry the names HMD Pulse+, HMD Pulse Pro, HMD Legend, HMD Legend+ and HMD Legend Pro. The company may also announce a new HMD T21 tablet.

The report adds that the HMD Pulse Pro, rumored to have model number TA-1595, recently appeared on the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) listing. The phone is available in Ocean Black, Glacier Green, and Twilight Purple color options. Another alleged phone, HMD Pulse+, is expected to come in midnight blue hue and feature a 6.56-inch display. According to reports, both phones can support 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage.
