Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma sued by Assam Congress chief for Rs 10 crore

Guwahati, Assam:

Assam Congress president Bhupen Kumar Borah files a 10-crore complaint against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a local court in Guwahati Ruby’s defamation suit claims that the BJP leader’s various remarks have damaged his and the party’s public image.

Bora filed the case before the Kamrup Metro Civil Judge (Senior Division) and First Assistant Sessions Judge on Thursday.

In addition to Mr. Sarma, one of the state’s leading vernacular daily newspapers and its editor were named defendants in the suit.

Mr. Bora claimed that Himanta Biswa Sarma’s repeated statements that the Congress president would soon leave the party had led to his public image being tarnished and had also damaged his the party.

The Chief Minister has been claiming that Mr Bora will join the BJP early next year, but this has been refuted by the Opposition leader.
