'He is afraid of people': Bilawal Bhutto slams Nawaz Sharif

Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday lashed out at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, saying he was scared, Dawn reported people.

Addressing a party rally ahead of the February 8 polls in Mirpur Khas, Bilawal Bhutto on Saturday claimed that Nawaz Sharif, who is running for a fourth term as prime minister, refused to debate him.

Bilawal Bhutto claimed at a party rally: “He is afraid of the people and is looking to manipulate, just like he did with Imran Khan.”

Bilawal Bhutto attacked the former prime minister, saying the Muslim League-North party did not organize a single rally in Sindh, highlighting their lack of significant efforts in the province during their tenure, Dawn reported.

Continuing his speech, the PPP chief accused Muslim League supremo Nawaz Sharif of rigging the elections in Mirpur Khas.

“He wants to decide the outcome of Mirpurkhas while sitting in Raiwing,” he said, referring to Nawaz. “He is plotting how to usurp votes from Mirpur Khas,” Bilawal Bhutto said, Dawn reported.

Bilawal Bhutto said the Muslim League-Northern faction intended to defeat the PPP candidate and asked the excited audience if they would accept it.

Furthermore, he accused political parties of “engaging in personal revenge” rather than engaging in politics.

At the rally, he said other parties were pursuing a politics of “hate and division” rather than helping the country.

“If we participate in politics, it is because we want to help you. If we compete, our target is poverty, unemployment and inflation, not any other party,” Bilawal Bhutto said.

Addressing a public rally in Rawalpindi last week, Shehbaz Sharif said, “A political leader and a friend of mine said he wanted to debate Nawaz Sharif but he did not name him. Rawal Bhutto.”

Meanwhile, the PPP chief accepted Shehbaz Sharif’s “bold” proposal to hold debate duels at three different locations in Sindh.

The PPP president invited the PML-N top leader to participate in the debate and suggested three locations: Karachi, Gambat Tehsil in Khairpur district and Tharparkar.

Bilawal Bhutto said the debate could also be held outside the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Karachi, adding that the medical institution treated more than 84,000 Punjabi patients last year, proving that Punjab does not have such facilities, according to Geo News, hospitals.

Bilawal Bhutto further asked Shehbaz Sharif not to “escape” and confirmed the date and venue of the debate between him and the three-time former prime minister.

Pakistan’s general election will be held on February 8.
