The total assets of former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and his wife Anitha are around Rs 217.21 crore, according to the affidavit filed by him as a candidate for the Mandya Lok Sabha seat on Thursday.

The couple declared liabilities of approximately Rs 82.17 crore.

Former MP Anitha is richer than HD Kumaraswamy, 65, son of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, with total assets worth Rs 154.39 crore. HD Kumaraswamy’s total assets are approximately Rs 54.65 crore; he also has HUF (Hindu Undivided Family) assets to his name worth approximately Rs 8.17 crore.

The former chief minister, a Bachelor of Science (BSc) graduate, claims to be a social worker, politician and agriculturist.

Anitha has business and rental income as she is an entrepreneur engaged in petrol and petroleum products business under the name of Nikhil & Co and is the Director of Kasthuri Media Pvt Ltd.

HD Kumaraswamy faces three pending criminal cases.

He does not own a car but owns a tractor worth Rs 12.55 lakh, while Anitha owns a car from Nikhil & Co worth Rs 11.15 lakh.

HD Kumaraswamy owns gold worth Rs 47.06 lakh and diamonds worth Rs 2.60 lakh, while Anitha owns diamonds worth Rs 2.41 crore and Rs 33.09 lakh respectively.

The JD(S) state president owns agricultural land worth Rs 3,748 crore and his residence in JP Nagar Phase III is worth Rs 646 crore. HD Kumaraswamy also owns HUF’s commercial construction stake worth about Rs 697 crore.

According to the affidavit, Anitha owns agricultural land worth Rs 283.8 crore and owns two commercial buildings worth Rs 356.9 crore.
