However, he has managed to keep the details of his personal life private. Last year, rumors were rife that he was dating Shahnaz Gill, with whom he shared screen space in a music video titled Sunrise. At the pre-release event of Thank U for Coming, Guru and Shehnaaz were seen posing on the red carpet, with paparazzi teasing their chemistry. Now, ahead of the release of Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay’s acting debut, News18 Showsha had an exclusive interview with the singing superstar, who cleared the air and revealed that he is single. However, he was quick to add that he was open to the idea of falling in love. “I am a person who is always in love. Love is a beautiful feeling. Everyone deserves to fall in love. I think even if someone doesn’t love you, it shouldn’t stop you from having feelings for them. After all, even if it’s one-sided Love is also love,” he told us.
So while couples use the day to celebrate love, Gurus have a different take on Valentine’s Day.Provoking him further, the Money Bank singer said: “I don’t believe in dedicating a day to the one I love. I don’t like waiting for a particular day to celebrate and express love. But I understand people celebrate Valentine’s Day , because they see it as an opportunity to make their significant other or partner feel special. Since I’m single, I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day but rather see it as reaching out to my loved ones and asking them to support me on my journey A day of new journey [of being an actor]”.
Looking back on his teenage years, he shyly reveals that he had a special person in his school and college life. “I had my college crush experience. Just paas bhi aakhein hai aur dil hai (laughs). Just like everyone else, I had a special someone in college and even in school, my eyes would always be looking for a girl. In fact, my first date was on a bus on my way home from college,” laughs Guru, who reveals that he has a huge crush on Kareena Kapoor Khan.
So, what is his biggest deal-breaker in a relationship? “That to me is infidelity. Let me tell you something, the weirdest thing I’ve ever done for love is I left the person I loved,” the 32-year-old said, adding The most romantic thing he wants to do with his partner is watch love stories and be with her.
