Gurgaon: Neighbor slit 14-year-old girl’s throat, hid her body in his house

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly killed by a neighbor who slit her throat and hid the body in her home before escaping, police said Monday.

According to preliminary investigation, the accused was a neighbor of the family and he killed the minor out of revenge.

The victim lived with his family in a rented house in a building in Indira Colony in Silokhra village. Police said the building had several such rooms and several public restrooms.

The incident happened around 9pm on Sunday when the girl’s mother sent her to a public restroom to get soap. After the girl did not return for a long time, her family began searching for her, they said.

They added that her father Gyani Thapa saw the accused Bahadur standing outside his room and asked him if he had seen his daughter, who said she had gone out to buy food.

However, Thapa became suspicious and asked Bahadur to open his room, but he did not allow it. He then forced open the door and found his daughter’s bloodied body in the room, wrapped in a blanket, police said.

They said Bahadur immediately fled the scene and is still absconding.

On being informed, a police team rushed to the spot and took custody of the body, officials said.

The accused allegedly slit the girl’s throat with a sharp weapon and hid her body, they said.

Based on a complaint by the father of the deceased, an FIR was registered against Bahadur under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector 40 police station here on Monday, they added.

Thapa said in his complaint that he is from Nepal and has been living in Indira Colony with his family as a tenant since 2019.

Bahadur, also known as Ramu, is also from Nepal and lives on rent like his neighbors. He often gave Thapa’s daughter money and food, according to the complaint.

Bahadur got into an argument with Thapa about six months ago after he accused the teenager of stealing his mobile phone and cash. He also threatened to kill a member of his family, the report said.

“I moved to another rented house but soon Bahadur also started living in the same residence,” Thapa added in the complaint.

SHO Manoj Kumar of Sector 40 police station said the main motive behind the murder will be revealed only after the arrest of the accused, adding that the post-mortem of the body was in progress.

“We are conducting raids to arrest the accused,” Kumar said.
