A miscreant was shot dead in an exchange of fire with police near the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday.
Probationary sub-inspector Deepak Sharma, who sustained head injuries in the encounter, died during treatment on Wednesday, they said, adding that a special constable was also injured.
