Yashasvi Jaiswal registered his name in the record books of cricket by scoring a brilliant double century in the third Test of the five-match series against England. This was Jaiswal’s second double century as he had crossed the 200-run mark in the second Test also. In the third match, he remained unbeaten on 214 runs in 236 balls and helped India set the target of 557 runs for England. After this, the host team bowled out Ben Stokes and Company for 122 runs and won by 434 runs.

After the match, Jaiswal had a lovely chat with Anil Kumble, where the former India spinner inspired him to try his hand at spin bowling. Kumble asked Jaiswal to ask captain Rohit to give him some overs to bowl.

“Your batting is very good. But one thing that I have seen and I want you to continue as well, is that you have natural leg spin. Yes, and action too. So don’t give up on that. Because you never Don’t know when it will come in handy. Know that you have back spasm, but when you are working so much on it. Go and ask the captain to give some overs,” Kumble told Jaiswal on Geo Cinema.

Responding to which, Jaiswal said, “I am always going and bowling, bowling and bowling. He (Rohit) told me to be ready, and I said yes I am ready.”

The 22-year-old opening batsman also registered his name in the record books by hitting the most number of sixes (12) by an Indian in a Test innings in the Rajkot Test.

“Test cricket is tough, but I thought when I am there, I have to give my 100 per cent. I am just trying. Whenever I set out, I try to make it big. Because in Test cricket You never know, when you are playing well you may have to make it big,” Jaiswal said.

“It was quite difficult for me because initially I was not able to score runs. So had to play sessions and get set. That’s when I felt I could score runs. After some time my back was not good. I didn’t want to To go (off the field), but since it was too much, I walked out. Today when I came, I wanted to make sure I take the game forward and bat till the end.”
