Replying to emails has become a daily task for almost everyone these days. A large number of users now manage this task through mobile devices, prompting Google to enhance the overall user experience of the Gmail app on Android and iOS platforms.
Now, the search giant is looking to add another feature to its Android app that will allow users to quickly reply to emails in an almost chat-like manner.
As Assemble Debug on X (Twitter) discovered via Android Police, Google has started rolling out a new reply user interface (UI) to Gmail. The tipster said, “Most users using Gmail version 2024.01.14.599541078 should be able to use this feature.”
This means users will see a new compose box that replaces the quick compose button. As Android Police points out, this also removes the Reply, Reply All, and Forward buttons.
There is a paperclip icon on either side of the typing box for attaching files. By clicking the Reply button, you can choose to reply, reply to all, or forward the email. Alternatively, you can expand this box. All in all, this should allow users to quickly enter responses for ease of use and convenience.
According to reports, some users have already started receiving this update, but if you haven’t yet, don’t worry as it will eventually roll out to everyone. We’ve checked Android 13 devices and haven’t found the same yet.
