Google is making these rules mandatory for businesses that send bulk emails

Gmail is going to require that business accounts keep their mails secure and only send important mails to users.

Google has been promising the easiest way to block spam mail for some time, but the feature has finally arrived. Gmail users now have a simple button to click that can let them unsubscribe from any spam mail that arrives in their inbox.

In fact, the company is now making the process of unsubscribing from its emails mandatory for businesses, almost like a single-click feature. As technology advances, email security is becoming more important and Gmail understands the need to stop these threats before they cause major problems for billions of users.

AI is also becoming a part of its arsenal to tackle spam but businesses also have an equal need to eliminate the menace of spam. “To help fix this, we’ve focused on an important aspect of email security: confirmation that the sender is who they claim to be. As basic as it sounds, given the web of antiquated and inconsistent systems on the Internet, it’s sometimes impossible to verify who an email belongs to,” Gmail explains in this post.

In simple words, Gmail is taking its mission to ‘end spam’ to another level from February 2024. The platform has set out a three-point rule that needs to be followed by businesses sending bulk emails to consumers.

– Bulk senders need to authenticate their emails to avoid any possible intrusion by attackers.

– Make it easy to unsubscribe from their emails, have a one-click option for users, and ensure requests are processed within 48 hours.

– These businesses need to make sure they are sending mail that users want or at least that is relevant to them in some way. Gmail’s spam rate limit will ensure that your inbox is not flooded with unwanted spam mail.

Marketing mails can be annoying if you sign up for a service, and Google has acknowledged these issues, now having a direct unsubscribe button. This button is already available for Gmail on the web, right at the top, next to the subject line of the email. Android users will also start getting this facility in the coming months.
