Glitch forces H-1B visa registration deadline extension by 3 days

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has extended the initial registration period for fiscal year 2025 H-1B visas by three days. This is due to a technical glitch that prevents users from completing the H-1B application process.

“Currently, some users are unable to complete the H-1B registration process. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue. We will be extending the registration deadline. Stay tuned for more details,” U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said earlier.

According to reports, signatures on the G-28 form used for H-1B registration are missing.

Form G-28 allows an applicant to designate an attorney or recognized representative to handle immigration-related applications and appeals.

The registration period is H-1B visa process set to end on March 22, 2024but will now remain open until March 25, 2024 at noon Eastern Time.

During this extension period, potential applicants and their representatives electronically register each beneficiary using a USCIS online account to participate in the selection process and pay the associated registration fee.

USCIS still intends to notify selected registrants by March 31, 2024.

USCIS launched the new myUSCIS organizational account on February 28, 2024.

These accounts allow multiple individuals within an organization and their legal representatives to collaborate and prepare H-1B registrations, petitions, and related Form I-907 for premium processing services.

The agency will begin accepting online submissions of H-1B cap application forms on April 1.

In 2022, Indians received 77% of the 320,000 approved H-1B visas. This year, USCIS expects approximately 350,000 applicants. Reduction attributed to new anti-fraud measures.

Last year, there were more than 400,000 duplicate registrations out of 759,000 registrations.
