In an example of resilience and determination, a girl from Coonoor in Andhra Pradesh who was rescued from forced child marriage topped the state’s first-grade high school entrance examination.

“Despite overcoming challenges like being rescued from child marriage, she scored an impressive 421 out of 440 possible marks. According to YSRCP legislator Y Saiprasad Reddy, G Nirmala, who was determined to pursue her educational goals in life, approached him during the latter’s ‘Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam’ program last year and requested help in achieving her life goals.
Moved by the plight of the girl, the Adoni MLA informed the district collector G Srujana about the situation, who then intervened and first rescued G Nirmala from an impending child marriage.
Later, the district administration admitted her to Kasturba Gandhi Balikala Vidyalaya College in Aspalli, after which G Nirmala overcame all the difficulties without hesitation and topped the mid-term examination this year.
