Voting is being held on 14 seats in Karnataka on Friday in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections.
Karnataka, which contributes 28 seats in the 543-member Parliament, will see voting in two phases with 14 seats going to polls today – Udupi Chikmagalur, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North. , Bangalore Central, Bangalore South, Chikballapur, Kolar.
In the 2019 elections in Karnataka, BJP won 25 out of 28 seats. This time, the BJP is contesting on 25 seats, while its state ally JDS is competing for the remaining 3 seats. Three constituencies contested by JDS are part of the second phase – Hassan, Mandya and Kolar.
Voting began at 7 am on Friday and will end at 6 pm.
The first phase of voting for the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections, the world’s largest electoral process, took place on April 19 in 102 constituencies across 21 states and union territories. According to the Election Commission, the voting percentage was recorded at more than 62 percent. The third phase of elections will be held on May 7.
