Former India batsman and Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gautam Gambhir is widely acclaimed for his contribution in international cricket and IPL. However, he is also popular for his no-nonsense approach and blunt answers in media interactions. A few months ago, Gambhir was asked to choose his favorite footballer between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the former KKR skipper did not choose either of the two and opted for Marcus Rashford. This reply from Gambhir became a viral meme on social media.
Recently, Gambhir opened up about the incident in a video shared by KKR and said that he was asked to choose his “favorite” player and neither player was his favourite.
“If someone asks me ‘Which team is your favorite? Liverpool or Arsenal?’ If you ask me to choose my favorite team, then you can’t give me a choice,” Gambill told Knights Dugout tells actor Cyrus Brocha in one episode.

When talking about the choice between Messi and Ronaldo, Gambhir said: “I don’t like them both. So, what should I say? I don’t like them both?”
He further explained his statement, stating that the question should be who is the better player between Messi and Ronaldo.
When Cyrus asked the same question, Gambill responded directly: “Ronaldo.”
Talking about KKR, the two-time champions have performed well in IPL 2024, winning four out of six matches and currently sit second in the points table.
Next up, they will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their IPL 2024 match at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.
