Four men drowned in Telangana river after Holi celebrations, police say

Hyderabad:

Four youths drowned in the Wardha river in Kumram Bhim Asifabad district on Monday during the Holi carnival, police said.

The incident took place in Thatipalli village when young people went to take bath in the river after celebrating Holi.

None of them knew how to swim and they drowned one after another, police chief Kumaram Bheem Asifabad told news agency PTI.

The victims are said to be between 22 and 25 years old.

Police found their bodies with the help of local fishermen and swimmers.

According to preliminary investigations, police said all of them were suspected of being drunk.

The detector is activated.
