Earlier this year, another incident caused a flight to be diverted. In January, a Ryanair flight from the UK to Spain was unexpectedly forced to land in Portugal due to a fight between passengers.
According to news reports, a group of possibly drunk men harassed female passengers on the flight. The situation escalated when a flight attendant tried to intervene but was allegedly knocked unconscious by the unruly passenger. This prompted the captain to issue a warning and ultimately divert the aircraft.
The passenger added that the group ignored the captain’s warnings and the brawl lasted for 20 minutes. When it was all over, 20 minutes later, the flight landed in Portugal.
