A police officer who had sex with a woman during a 999 call to her home and then allegedly begged her not to tell anyone has been jailed.

Jordan Masterson turned off his body camera and claimed he felt “powerless” when he went to his home in Widnes, Cheshire, to have sex with the woman in the early hours of December 28, 2021.

Cheshire Constabulary has now released a picture of the 28-year-old, who was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Friday after being found guilty of misconduct in public office following a trial earlier this year.

He was jailed for three and a half years for “serious breach of trust” and given an indefinite restraining order banning him from contacting the woman, known as “Female G”.

Sentencing Masterson, Judge Michael Leeming said: “Your behavior tonight and your dealings with the victim amounted to a serious breach of trust.

“The public has a right to expect their police officers to act with the utmost integrity. Female G needed your help. Instead, you used her to satisfy your own sexual needs. You saw yourself as a victim and blamed her for ruining your career .”

The trial heard how Masterson arrived at the woman’s home while responding to reports of a disturbance while the woman’s children were sleeping.

The woman told police “the atmosphere changed” when the trainee police officer, who had resigned, touched her hand.

Masterson told the court it was the woman who touched his hand, adding that she walked out of the room and came back naked.

“I remember being confused and feeling completely numb, like I was glued to the floor,” he claimed. He added there was “nothing he could do”.

Mr Leeming said: “I reject these claims. You told the jury it was your dream as a teenager to join the police.

“You’ve now lost that career and you have only yourself to blame.”

After the incident, he returned to her home after making numerous emergency calls and later denied “begging” her not to tell anyone what happened.

But the woman reported the incident to police, initially using the word “rape” but later saying she wanted to have sex.

Asked in court why she said she had been raped, the woman said: “That word describes how I felt. I felt completely violated.”

Defense lawyer Vanessa Thomson said her client’s mental health had deteriorated since his arrest and a medical report in December 2021 said he was likely to have suffered trauma from childhood trauma Effects of post-stress disorder.

Ms Thomson added that the defendant’s partner and her family continued to support him.

Masterson would have been fired from the police force had he not already resigned, and he is now on the barred list, meaning he cannot be employed by the police department in the future.

Catherine Bates, regional director of the Independent Office for Police Conduct, said: “The disgraceful behavior of former PC Masterson has absolutely no place in policing and he has now been held to account for his actions.”
