First accident on Atal Setu, car collided with railing and overturned. Watch

Dramatic dash cam footage of a vehicle on the new Mumbai Trans Harbor Link (MTHL) bridge shows a car spinning violently before coming to a halt, hitting a railing and overturning multiple times on Sunday. This is the first accident on the recently inaugurated six-lane trans-harbour bridge Atal Setu, which is 21.8 km long with a 16.5 km sea link.

according to a ndtv According to the report, the incident occurred around 3:00 pm. Dashcam footage of the car behind the hatchback shows the vehicle crossing the lane and hitting the guardrail.

The car was going to Chirle (a village in Uran taluka of Raigarh district). All the passengers including two women and children traveling in it are said to be safe.

Inauguration of Atal Bridge

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Atal Setu in Mumbai on January 12. It is the longest bridge in India and also the longest sea bridge in the country providing fast connectivity to Mumbai International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport.

Starting from Sewri and ending at Nhava Sheva, this bridge connects major areas like Navi Mumbai International Airport, Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Mumbai-Goa Highway.

Atal Setu: Better connectivity, shorter travel time

Built at a cost of Rs 21,200 crore, the bridge reduces travel time from Mumbai to Pune, Goa and South India. It also improves connectivity between Mumbai Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port and reduces travel time from Mumbai to Pune, Goa and South India from the current two hours to about 15-20 minutes.

This road is expected to carry around 70,000 vehicles per day.
