A passenger traveling on a Mumbai-Ranchi flight reportedly had to experience a harrowing journey after the flight was diverted to Kolkata due to bad weather. The passenger claimed that despite the promise on board the flight, the airline staff refused to make arrangements for him after disembarkation.

However, private carrier IndiGo claimed that all passengers aboard flight 6E-221 on January 19 were provided food and were given the option of a refund or an alternative flight.

Vikram Srivastava, a passenger on the flight, shared his ordeal on social media that he was “falsely promised” hotel stay and alternative flights and was then removed from the plane. “The ground staff refused everything except fare refund, rice packets in a week. “The regulation allows dumping at third place?” He posted on microblogging site X.

Srivastava claimed that pregnant women and elderly people were traveling on the plane, but despite this, “the IndiGo team refused to help the passengers and asked them to make their own arrangements at a third place.” He also shared a video of the interaction between IndiGo employees and angry passengers.

IndiGo responded to Srivastava on X, expressing regret for the inconvenience and promising to look into the matter.

When contacted, an airline official said, “The flight was diverted to Kolkata due to bad weather in Ranchi, and passengers were given the option to choose another flight or get a refund. While some opted for another flight, others opted for a refund. Additionally, food was served to all passengers at the Kolkata airport.
