Eva Mendes has revealed that she and her partner Ryan Gosling have decided to give up their acting careers to become stay-at-home moms.

The actress, who has daughters Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7, with Gosling, opened up about her career in an interview with The New York Times. today Performances on Tuesday.

“It’s almost like a non-verbal agreement, like, ‘Okay, he’s going to work, I’m going to work, I’m going to work here,’” hitch said the 50-year-old actress.

She added that it was “natural” that he put his Hollywood career on hold for the sake of her children.

“I’m lucky,” she says of being able to “work with [her] children. “

However, Mendes clarified that just because she’s no longer in acting doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a career.

“I’m still working, I’m just not acting because acting takes you on location and it takes you away,” she shared.

Mendes last starred in the 2012 film, the place Beyond the Pinesalong with Gosling, where they seemed to spark their romance.

She explained that she “pretty much stopped acting” after this role.
