Delhi Minister Atish on Sunday wrote to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena over the alleged rape of a four-year-old girl in the capital’s Pandav Nagar, urging him to take “swift and strongest action” against the accused.

A girl was allegedly raped by her teacher’s brother at a tuition center in east Delhi, police said on Sunday, triggering protests in the area with people vandalizing some vehicles. An FIR has been registered and the accused has been arrested, they said.

Police said the incident took place on Saturday when the girl was attending a tuition center run by a teacher from her home.

“Such a horrific crime is a stain on the national capital. It is a sign of poor security… women and young girls are not safe in Delhi,” Atish said in a letter to the district administration.
