‘Enforcement Directorate, CBI are independent. Have nothing to do with BJP’: Minister Anurag Thakur

'ED, CBI are independent. It has nothing to do with us”: Minister Anurag Thakur

New Delhi:

Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday refuted the opposition’s claims and said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are independent agencies and the investigating agencies have no connection with the BJP.

Speaking at the Times Now Summit, Thakur stressed that “no one can accuse Modi of corruption in these 10 years”.

“In 2013, Kejriwal had said that he would swear on the name of his daughter that he would not enter politics or join hands with the Congress. They (Congress and AAP) have no achievements of their own, they just insult Modiji in the morning night. The more they insult Prime Minister Modi, the more people will choose us and give us a greater mandate,” he said.

“ED summoned Arvind Kejriwal nine times, why didn’t he come? He used to talk about great morals. When he didn’t come, ED came to his house. Just like AAP got zero seats in Delhi in 2014 and 2019, this time They will get zero in Punjab too,” he added.

Furthermore, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting stressed that those who used to talk about morality are in jail today.

“ED and CBI are independent agencies. They act in their own way. It has nothing to do with us,” Mr. Thakur said.

Anurag Thakur further attacked the Indian group and said that the Indian alliance is full of ego and pride.

“If they are so honest, then why do they want to change their names? There are 2G scams, submarine scams, coal scams, there are so many scams, they can’t use this face to appear in public. So who has joined?” The puller of the alliance and feed scam Lalu Yadav, ministers, representatives of the party are behind bars,” he added.

He maintained that the investigating agencies had taken action against corrupt elements in the past and would continue to do so in the future.

Mr. Thakur pointed out that if action has to be taken against corrupt elements, then does timing matter?

“If action is to be taken against corruption, does timing matter? In a country where elections are held in eight states in a year, we talk about savings of hundreds of millions of rupees in one state and then they object,” he said.

Talking about the 2G scam investigation, he said that the shelter was provided by the then UPA government to protect A Raja and others involved in the 2G scam. If permission is granted today, we can promise the country that we will conduct a transparent investigation and take action in accordance with the law.
