Rashtriya Janata Dal (RLJP) president Pashupati Kumar Paras met BJP national president JP Nadda in New Delhi, ending concerns over the Lok Sabha seat allocation speculation of disagreement between the issue and the National League for Democracy. After Mr Paras expressed his dissent at a press conference after being denied tickets in Hajipur, there was speculation that Mr Paras might once again be involved as an independent with the support of the Indian group debate.

However, Mr Paras on Saturday put to rest all speculations surrounding his nomination from Hajipur, saying he would “continue to support the NDA” in the Lok Sabha polls. But he did not make a truce with his nephew Chirag.

Paras wrote in Hindi in a post on X that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Nadda and BJP Bihar in-charge Vinod Vinod Tawde wrote in Hindi: “BJP is part of NDA and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is our leader”.

He said the decision to field Chirag in the fray from Hajipur this time was “of the highest order” and added, “We will extend our full support to our candidate to ensure that the NDA achieves its target of 400 seats and wins the contest. All 40 seats in Khar.”

As part of a broad understanding between the BJP and NDA voters in Bihar, the BJP will contest in 17 seats, while its ruling partner the BJP will field candidates in another 16 seats. Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Party (RLSP) will contest one seat each, while Rashtriya Janata Dal (Ram Vilas) will contest Five remaining seats.

The non-divided Janata Party (LJP) founded by Ram Vilas Paswan split into two factions in 2021, Chirag Paswan and Paras (Paras) leads the rival factions.

In the 2019 polls, Mr Paras won from Hajipur, while Chirag Paswan won a landslide victory from Jamui.
