After revealing that Optimus can boil eggs and do yoga, Elon Musk has now posted a video of Tesla’s humanoid robot, folding shirts.

Elon Musk shares a variety of interesting content on his X (formerly Twitter) account, ranging from memes about his platform to updates on products being developed by his companies.

And now, Elon Musk has posted a new video of Optimus, Tesla’s humanoid robot, folding shirts. The video shows the robot picking up a shirt from a basket and then folding it like a human would, all in a matter of seconds.

However, Musk clarified in a follow-up post that the robot can’t do this autonomously yet. Still, Musk said it would “be able to do this completely autonomously and in an arbitrary environment (no need for a fixed table with a box that just holds a shirt).”

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Musk has demonstrated Optimus’ skills. Last September, Musk posted a video of a humanoid robot performing a variety of tasks, including sorting colored blocks by color and even stretching its robotic limbs and doing yoga Included. And later in December they showed Optimus Gen 2 boiling eggs.

At the time, Tesla noted that the robot could perform these activities and create these positions because it was now able to self-calibrate its arms and legs.

This robot is part of Tesla’s AI and Robotics division and uses an AI-first approach. The company says this is the only way to create a fully self-driving, bipedal robot with the help of Inference hardware. Optimus Gen 2 is the latest Tesla robot, and it is the successor to Optimus Gen 1, which was unveiled in March 2022.
