Sources said Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde drove down on Monday night to meet Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his family.
The chief minister, accompanied by officials and police, went to Galaxy Apartments in Bandra West a day after two men fired four shots outside the actor’s residence.
It is unclear what happened at the meeting and whether all members of the Khan family were present.
The gruesome act was carried out by two motorcyclists who were not harming anyone but were trying to get a “message” across loud and clear.
Soon after the incident, the chief minister called Salman Khan and assured him of security and a thorough investigation into the matter.
Later, Congress, BJP, Shiv Sena and other celebrities went to meet Khan to express solidarity with them.
At the same time, the Mumbai police has set up about 15 investigation teams to investigate the case from all angles.
Police have identified the two gunmen and the origin of the motorcycle registered with Raigad number.
A private TV channel claimed late on Monday that the two gunmen reportedly lived in a building in Navi Mumbai, but police have yet to comment.
