The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested an accused after conducting raids at multiple locations in the ISIS Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar module case related to conspiracy to carry out attacks on important installations.
NIA teams conducted raids on the houses of multiple suspects at nine locations in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad) in Maharashtra and seized cases related to Several electronic products and criminal documents, etc.
One man, Mohammed Zoheb Khan, was arrested during the crackdown.
The Mumbai NIA registered a case against Khan on the basis that he and his associates had pledged allegiance to ISIS Khalifa and were planning to launch attacks on multiple institutions.
They are also involved in radicalizing and recruiting gullible young people to join ISIS and promote its violent ideology, both physically and through social media.
According to the NIA investigation, the accused and other suspects were in touch with their foreign handlers to facilitate the activities of the global terror network in India and abroad.
They shared videos of “Bayath” crimes, as well as material related to violent jihad and hijra in Syria.
Counterterrorism agencies are continuing to investigate the case.
