The first reviews for Dune 2 have been released, and they don’t praise Denis Villeneuve. The filmmaker plans to release “Dune: Part 2” in March this year. Dune 2 comes a little over two years after the first film was released. The sequel brings back Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, and also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård , Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken and Léa Seydoux. Dennis hosted a star-studded premiere on Thursday, where most critics in attendance raved about the film.

Critics on X (formerly Twitter) called Dune 2 one of the best science fiction movies ever made. Uproxx’s Mike Ryan wrote: “I had a bit of mixed feelings about the first Dune. Dune: Part 2 is awesome. It has the greatest sci-fi movie I’ve ever seen. I want to ride a sandworm. #Dune Part Two. The character Feder played by Austin Butler in this movie is also a demon. He’s actually channeling a demon from hell.”

Inverse editor Hoai-Tran Bui writes: “Dune: Part 2 is a triumph. Bigger than the first, but also more intimate – Denis Villeneuve managed to pull off the book’s more alienating second half Parts simplified into a riveting, action-packed epic. Two Towers-level battle sequences mastered. Zendaya is the star.”

The Playlist’s Gregory Ellwood added: “‘Dune: Part 2’ is impressive. Villeneuve creates some truly visionary moments. Austin Butler’s performance is truly Transformative (not talking about makeup, either). Very touching ending. A bit long? Yes. Did I forget that I saw it the next day? Yes. Still, the scale will be huge.”

Collider’s Steven Weintraub praised Dune 2’s filmmaking as “incredible.” He said: “Surprising to no one, I absolutely loved #Dune2. Incredible filmmaking. Excellent score. The whole cast was great. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer. No joke. This The movie is 2 hours and 40 minutes (?) and I would happily watch another hour.”

“Dune: Part 2” is the sequel to the 2021 hit film “Dune,” based on Frank Herbert’s famous novel, picking up where the first film left off. The film is expected to be released on March 15.

The official synopsis reads: “This follow-up film will explore the mythical journey of Paul Atreides as he joins forces with Chani and the Fremen to seek vengeance against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Faced with the challenges of his life Chosen between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he strives to prevent a horrific future that only he can foresee.”
