A South Carolina man is scheduled to appear in court next month on charges he slapped a teenage waitress three times on the forehead at a Walt Disney World Resort restaurant while drunk. John Munro, 64, of South Carolina, faces assault charges stemming from a November altercation with a 19-year-old waitress at Citricos restaurant at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

Munro has a background in luxury hotels, having served as vice president of hospitality, sales and marketing at Hilton Head Island’s famed Sea Pines Resort, where he lived. However, Munro is no longer employed by Sea Pines Resort, according to South Carolina Hotels spokesperson Karen Moraghan. fox news the report said.

Karen Moraghan told the outlet Munro was placed on administrative leave “while this personnel matter is reviewed.”

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox 35 Orlando, Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the resort on Nov. 19, 2023, in reference to a battery incident.

Preliminary investigation found that around 7:30 p.m., a restaurant waitress was assisting a family in ordering a meal for three people. However, the group arrived with four women and two men.

One of the men, Munro, was found not complying with the restaurant’s dress code, according to arrest records.

Munro was wearing swimming trunks and a T-shirt, and the Citricos website says “guests are expected to dress in a manner that respects the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic,” adding explicitly that swimwear is not allowed.

Since Munro was wearing swimming shorts and a T-shirt, the hostess told him he couldn’t dine with the family. He offered to understand the situation but said he would wait with the team until they were seated. The hostess accepted his request, but tensions rose when she then escorted the group to their seats.

Deputies reported Munro continued to follow the trio to their table despite being told he was not allowed to do so.

One of the women told the hostess: “Please don’t let him sit with us, he’s drunk, he’s thinly dressed, it’s my birthday and I’m embarrassed,” according to the affidavit.

Deputies said when the hostess told Munro he couldn’t sit with the group, he “began repeatedly slapping her on the forehead” three times while saying her name, which he had taken from the name tag on her shirt. read.

Deputies said the hostess was uninjured and refused medical treatment and hoped to file charges, Fox News reported.

The outlet further stated that officers caught Munro, who they said was drunk because he had “slurred speech, red eyes and kept repeating that he was going to sue Disney.”

Munro was arrested and released the next morning on $1,000 bail.

Munro entered a not guilty plea and is expected to appear in court for a pretrial conference hearing on February 16.
