‘Drugged, raped, slapped’: 21-year-old Mumbai girl shares harrowing party night experience

A 21-year-old Mumbai girl was allegedly drugged and raped on January 13 by a man she met on social media. The case falls under the limits of Worli police station in south Mumbai, who are now investigating the allegations.

In a distressing post on Instagram, the victim shared her ordeal and described the ‘most painful experience’ of her life when she decided to meet the accused and hang out with him.

“I went into town to drink and party, starting at Place A,” the woman said. She further said that she later met her friends and left for Bastion. She said she became ‘intoxicated’ after a few tequila shots.

“After a few tequila shots, I became drunk, feeling anxious and alone at the party. He insisted I drink more, and I suffered a blackout episode, I don’t remember what happened next,” she said.

The victim said that she suspected being ‘roofied’. The term is a slang term for someone who is raped or sexually assaulted while intoxicated.

“I doubt I would have been given a roof. I woke up to find him raping me, and despite my attempts to stop him, he continued to do so and even slapped me three times in a very angry manner, which left me scared and frightened.’ ‘ She said, the incident took place at the house of one of her friends, who later intervened to help the accused.

“His friends intervened to save him. Before I could ask for help, they tried to oust me, even threatening me in their presence. After leaving, he (the accused) tried to flee from the spot.’ the 21-year-old woman said.

Hurt and hurt, she called her cousin and said, “I was unable to tell my parents about that night.” The victim said that when her family came to know about the incident, they were stunned and immediately lodged an FIR.

“When my family found out, they were stunned. I filed an FIR against him that weekend. Added the victim. The accused also apologized for the incident the next morning, claimed the woman, who also attached a screenshot of the alleged message.

“Hello, I’m really sorry for what happened tonight, I didn’t mean to do what happened, the situation got heated and escalated and I’m really very sorry, I hope we can get over this and can put this behind us, I’m again very apologetic and ask for forgiveness.” Read the screenshot.

The 21-year-old victim is now demanding justice as 12 days have passed but Mumbai Police has not made any arrests yet.

“His apology this morning means nothing to me, and he has run away because he knows what he has done. 12 days passed and he was not arrested. He has applied for anticipatory bail.” He said.

Mumbai Police has booked the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt).

She concluded by saying that she wants justice and urges other girls to be careful about who they talk to and go out with.

“I want justice and urge other girls to be more careful about who they talk to and go out with. If you have any link/resource/advice/connection/NGO that can help me. It means a lot to me,” the woman said.
