A dog missing in Australia for more than a fortnight has been reunited with its owners in Britain.

Jason Whitnall and his partner Nick Rowlands recently visited Jason’s home state of Victoria, AustraliaWith his dog Milo.

But when they were about to fly to Swansea, the Jack Russell terrier cross had other ideas and escaped from his handler at Melbourne Airport.

The five-and-a-half-year-old dog then went on quite an adventure – spending 17 days on the loose in the suburbs of Melbourne before finally being found.

Mr Whitnall told Sky News he was in tears when he was reunited with his beloved Milo.

He said, “It was amazing to have Milo back. He was screaming with joy, so excited.”

“And I cried, everyone cried, so it was really emotional and then we spent time with her.”

While Mr Whitnall and Mr Rowlands were in Swansea on the other side of the world, they became increasingly concerned about Milo’s whereabouts.

“We didn’t see anybody for 12 days. We didn’t know where he was. So it was quite disappointing, the hope was lost a bit,” Mr Whitnall said.

Thankfully for Milo, help started pouring in from volunteers after an appeal on social media.

“So we found out where he was and they set out a trap and maybe 48 hours later they had him.

“It was a crazy ordeal, most of the dogs were found within 48 hours i.e. within 17 days of being on the other side of the world, I couldn’t have done it without the community and the volunteers and basically everyone who helped. “

Mr Whitnall said he was delighted it was “good news” and was looking forward to “now getting on with life and settling down”. wales,
