When protesting farmers on the Haryana-Punjab border were pelted with tear gas shells from drones, the agitators came up with a unique way to confront the police and stay there – kites.

Videos have emerged from the Sambhu border in Punjab showing protesting farmers flying kites to restrict the area for tear gas firing from drones. The farmers launched a unique protest on the occasion of Basant Panchami.

Haryana police on Wednesday used tear gas shells on farmers coming from Punjab at the Shambhu border to prevent them from entering the national capital on the second day of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march.

However, the protesting farmers clarified that they are determined to march towards the national capital against all odds and many young farmers are already driving tractors to dismantle the multi-layered cement blocks at the Shambhu border.

The farmers also arranged water tankers to minimize the impact of tear gas shells hurled by Haryana security personnel.

A similar face-off was reported at the Data Singhwala-Khanauri border in Jind district of Haryana, with Haryana police setting up roadblocks to prevent farmers from traveling to Delhi on tractor-trolleys.

As farmers from many parts of Punjab continue to flock to the Shambhu border to participate in the ‘Delhi Chalo’ procession, a large number of tractor-trolleys can be seen parked along the national highway on the Punjab side.

Several protesters and policemen were injured in clashes at the Shambhu and Data Singhwala-Khanauri borders on Tuesday, the first day of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ riots.

Protesting farmers demanding guaranteed minimum support price (MSP) are planning to make a fresh attempt to breach the multi-layered roadblocks at the Haryana border.
