The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to change the color code of the Delhi Aerocity-Tughlaqabad corridor under construction in the fourth phase from ‘silver’ to ‘gold’ to improve visibility and convenience for commuters, officials said on Monday.
Delhi Metro has color-coded all its operational corridors for easier identification by passengers.
The DMRC has decided to change the color code of the upcoming Delhi Aerocity Tughlaqabad Metro corridor from ‘silver’ to ‘gold’ to improve visibility and facilitate passengers, the official said.
“This decision was made because gold appears more prominently and clearly on the train than silver, which tends to blend in with the overall silvery texture of the stainless steel bodies of metro trains. Therefore, ‘gold’ was chosen as the color The code will ensure better visibility on trains and be more convenient for passengers,” DMRC said in a statement.
A colored bar indicating the color code for that particular corridor is displayed prominently on the train body. For example, trains running on the Blue Line from Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida/Vaishali have a blue strip below the windows.
The AerocityTughlakabad corridor is 23.62 km long and has 15 stations. The corridor will connect the Kashmere Gate Raja Nahar Singh Corridor (Violet Line) with the Airport Express and provide connectivity to many new areas south of the national capital. It is said that the corridor is expected to be operational in March 2026.
