Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill was fined Rs 12 lakh on Wednesday for maintaining a slow pace during the match against Chennai Super Kings. “As this is the first time this season that his team has violated the provisions of the IPL Code of Conduct regarding minimum over-rate violations, Gill has been fined Rs 12 lakh,” an IPL statement said.
Gill’s side suffered its first defeat of the tournament on Tuesday, losing by 63 runs to defending champions Chennai Super Kings.
Gill’s Gujarat Titans took the lead in the IPL for the first time, beating Mumbai Indians by six runs in the first match.
