Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowling all-rounder Sunil Narine said after their 85-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) that the key in cricket is batting. Narine opened for the Kolkata side and scored 85 runs in just 39 balls with a strike rate of 217.95. The Caribbean all-rounder hit seven fours and a six at the crease. In his post-match speech, Narine said he was happy to contribute with the bat. However, the 35-year-old added that he enjoys bowling.
When asked about opening the innings with KKR’s Philip Salt, he added that the English batsman takes the pressure off his partner.
“Cricket is all about batting, so it’s enjoyable to contribute with the bat, but I also like my bowling. (While batting against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders) we had enough batsmen, so at that time No need for gaps. In the end today, it was about what the team needs. Batting with Salt was good and he took the pressure off me, so it was good to bat with him. On such a good wicket, we bowled It’s good and it’s profitable, so it was a total team effort tonight,” Narine said.
To sum up the match, KKR’s target of 273 runs was too much for DC and they succumbed to the pressure and ended up losing by 106 runs.
The pace duo of Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora took two wickets each to reduce DC to 33/4 in the powerplay.
These early hits undermine DC’s approach to chasing huge totals, with each delivery becoming more challenging.
Ultimately, the required pace proved to be too much, and they ended up on a 106-game losing streak.
