Beyoncé has become the first black artist to top the charts with a country album in the UK, with her eighth LP Cowboy Carter topping the charts.

Not only that, but the star also completed a double crown – the album’s lead single “Texas Hold’em” returned to the top of the singles chart for a fifth consecutive week.

In addition, she has two other top 10 singles from Cowboy Carter – her cover of Parton’s Jolene at No. 8, and her duet with II Most Wanted miley cyrus, ranked ninth. She has previously reached the top ten twice on two separate occasions – in 2008 with “If I Were a Boy” and “Listen”, according to the Official Charts – and in 2009 with “If I Were a Boy” and “Single Ladies” ” (Put a Ring on It) once again enters the top ten – according to the official rankings.

Official Charts CEO Martin Talbot congratulated the star, saying Parton should “step aside (temporarily)” because “Bey is the *current* queen of country.”

He said in a statement: “In a career of huge achievement, congratulations to Beyoncé who this week scored a string of UK chart records with her country singles and albums, underscoring her status as one of the world’s most groundbreaking status as one of the most iconic music artists. ”

In addition to covering “Jolene,” Beyoncé also covered “Blackbird,” a song inspired by civil rights the Beatlesabout Cowboy Carter.

Sir Paul McCartney praised the star’s “brilliant” version, saying it “reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write this song.”

He wrote on Instagram that they spoke on FaceTime about her recording the song.

“When I saw footage of black girls being excluded from school on television in the early 1960s, I was shocked and couldn’t believe it was still happening,” Sir Paul said.

“For my song and Beyoncé’s amazing version to be able to ease racial tensions is going to be a great thing and makes me very proud.”

Parton also praised the star, saying, “I’m a huge Beyoncé fan and so excited that she made a country album.”
