New Delhi:
Three senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, have been arrested in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, is also in jail.
The other two are AAP MP Sanjay Singh and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
The ED reasoned that the Delhi Liquor Policy 2021-22 provides a very high profit margin of 12 per cent to wholesalers and nearly 185 per cent to retailers. Of the 12 per cent, 6 per cent was recovered from wholesalers as kickbacks to AAP leaders, while the ‘South Group’ allegedly paid in advance to another accused with links to AAP, Vijay Nair ) provided Rs.
A key focus of the Delhi liquor policy case investigation is the alleged network of middlemen, businessmen and politicians that the central agency has dubbed the “Southern Group”.
The ED claimed that the liquor policy was adjusted to help companies in the “Southern Bloc” and that Mr Sisodia watered down the policy in their favour, without any consultation.
So far, 16 key figures linked to alleged money laundering in the now-abandoned Delhi liquor policy case have been identified. Some of the defendants have become witnesses.
