Jelly Roll is being sued by a Pennsylvania wedding band of the same name (spelled “Jellyroll”), which accuses the country star of plagiarizing its name.

in proceedings obtained people magazine, the musician was asked to stop using the moniker, which the band claimed they had used “since at least 1980” at “celebratory and charity events” across the United States, including a performance at the White House. The band further claims that they obtained a trademark for the name “Jellyroll” in 2010.

“Prior to Defendants’ recent notoriety, a search for Jellyroll’s name on most search engines, particularly Google, returned references to Plaintiffs,” the lawsuit states.

But now, a Google search yields “as many as 18 to 20 mentions” of country singers rather than bands.

Despite prior discussions between legal representatives from both parties, no solution has been reached.

Grammy winner Jelly Roll, born Jason Bradley DeFord, has previously revealed that his stage name was given to him by his mother when he was a child.
