Congress releases 9th list, Fields CP Joshi from Bhilwara, Rajasthan

The Congress on Friday announced its ninth list of five candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The party has announced three candidates for Karnataka and two candidates for Rajasthan.

The grand old party has fielded CP Joshi from Bhilwara in Rajasthan, while Damodar Gujjar will contest from the Rajasthan Rajasamand polls.

Meanwhile, the party has fielded E Thukaram from Bellary in Karnataka, Sunil Bose from Chamarajanagar-SC and Raksha Ramaiah from Chikkballapur.

Earlier on Thursday, Congress announced its eighth candidate list from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Jharkhand.

In Jharkhand, Kalicharan Munda will contest from Khunti seat, Sukhdeo Bhagat from Lohardaga and Jai Prakashbhai Patel from Hazaribagh.

In Madhya Pradesh, Rao Yadvendra Singh will contest from Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, while Tarvar Singh Lodhi and Pratap Bhanu Sharma from Damoh will contest from the Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency against former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivaraj Singh Chouhan.

In Telangana, Athram Suguna of Adilabad batted, Tatiparthi Jeevan Reddy of Nizamad batted, Medha Medak’s Neelam Madhu bats, while Bhongir’s Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy bats.

For Uttar Pradesh, Congress has announced 4 candidates. Dolly Sharma got the ticket from Ghaziabad, Shivram Valmiki got the ticket from Bulandshahr, Nakul Dubey got the ticket for Sitapur and Virendra Chaudhary got the ticket for Maharajganj.

There are 25 assembly constituencies in Rajasthan. The state will go to polls in two phases. Voting for 12 seats will be held in the first phase (April 19) and the remaining 13 seats will be voted for in the second phase (April 26).

Elections for the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha will be held in seven phases starting from April 19. Nearly 970 million voters are eligible to vote in the general election.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 303 seats, while the Indian National Congress (INC) won only 52 seats.
