Congress announces list of five candidates for seventh Lok Sabha polls

New Delhi:

Congress on Tuesday announced its seventh list of five candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, in which R Sudha from Mayiladuthurai constituency in Tamil Nadu was elected.

In the last elections, Mayiladuthurai constituency stood with its ally DMK. Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar had served as MP from this constituency three times before.

Congress has announced candidates for four seats in Chhattisgarh and one seat in Tamil Nadu.

In Chhattisgarh, the party fielded Shashi Singh from Sargujja (ST), Menka Devi Singh from Raigarh, Devender Singh Yadav from Bilaspur and Biresh Thakur from Kanker (ST).

With this, the party has so far fielded a total of 194 candidates in the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections starting from April 19.
