Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday visited the affected areas due to the recent shelling by Pakistan in Salamabad area of Uri in Baramulla district. He interacted with local people in the affected area.
Abdullah acknowledged damage and pain by local people living in these border villages and said that people’s pain in the affected areas was “deeply individual”.
“Recently moving towards Uri to meet people affected by shelling. In the last few days, I have seen the immense pain, loss, and unimaginable courage of our people. To share these trips to share happiness, to talk about development, should not be offered to offer sensations. My people’s pain is deeply personal,” Abdullah has posted on X.
The border districts of Jammu and Kashmir recently witnessed rapid shelling by Pakistan, causing damage to their residential structures when India launched Operation Sindoor in response to a terrorist attack in Pahgam.
Local people living in the border villages have demanded that the government compensate them for damaged houses. They urge the Government of India to “leave Pakistan” for their misconduct.
Vijay Kumar, a local village in Novashera, said that his entire life was spent on the construction of the house, which has been damaged by Pakistan.
“I have retired from the army, and we are three brothers who built their homes together. She had shells in 2002, 2004 and 2005. However, we never left our home due to it. This is the first time we have to run. Otherwise, we must have died,” Kumar told ANI.
He said that the government should compensate for those who have been damaged in the village, which has been flown by Pakistan due to shelling.
“The whole savings of our lives went into the construction of the house, which has been ruined. However, I am happy that our lives have been saved. There is no point in announcing the ‘ceasefire’ since Pakistan.
The Indian Army bomb settlement squad has actively attached to the separation of unemployed shells in residential areas near the Line of Control (LOC) villages in Nusera area of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring the safety of local residents in the area.
