Bangalore:

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday said he would “leave no stone unturned” to ensure supply of Cauvery water to Bengaluru residents. He allegedly told voters that he would provide Cauvery water to them if they vote for his younger brother DK Suresh, who is seeking re-election in Bengaluru rural district.

“We are here to solve the problem… This is our duty; we are doing it. I want to tell them that we are here to solve their problem and we will provide them with water by any means necessary,” he told reporters here.

In a video clip that surfaced on social media, DK Shivakumar allegedly told residents of a housing society in his brother’s constituency that he was here to make a “business deal” and if they voted for his brother, he would ensure Cauvery The river supplies them with water.

Sharing the video, BJP IT unit chief Amit Malviya attacked state Congress president DK Shivakumar and said that whoever the people choose to vote for, as a minister it is his duty to provide convenience to the people.

“Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar blatantly abused his power by extorting voters of a large housing society in his brother DK Suresh’s constituency to ransom. In a vulgar humorous tone, he threatened that if the residents would not vote for him Bro, he will know (because their votes are on 2/3 of the stalls) and won’t provide water and CA sites…”, he claimed in his post on “X”.

DK Shivakumar, however, firmly slammed the BJP for questioning the five assurances given by the Congress government

“The Congress party is based on trust and commitment. Equality – equal sharing, development of all is our aim. Our guarantee is not just 5 years but 10 years. People wish us long in power. Women across the state are ready to respond Unfounded criticism of the PPP. Our pledge is not just a political framework but a promise of progress for every citizen and the voters of the state will respond to the criticism of the pledge by the PPP leaders in this election.” post.
