'Cannot raise anti-Sanathan slogans': Gurav Vallabh on why he quit Congress

2024 Elections: Mr Vallabh first contested the polls in 2019 from Jamshedpur East in Jharkhand.

New Delhi:

Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh today quit the party citing dissatisfaction with its current trajectory. In a post on social media, Mr Vallabh lamented the party’s apparent lack of direction.

“I feel uncomfortable with the directionless path the Congress party is currently taking. I cannot support anti-Sanathan slogans or criticize the country’s wealth creators day in and day out. Therefore, I resign from the Congress Party for all positions and key member positions of the party,” Mr. Vallabh posted on X.

Mr Vallabh shared a two-page resignation letter which he sent to the party president Mallikarjun Kharge.

“I am very excited and heavy, and I have a lot to say, write, and share. However, my principles do not allow me to say anything that may hurt others. Nonetheless, today, I would like to express my idea.” Because I firmly believe that concealing the truth is a crime, I refuse to participate in it. ” he wrote in the letter.

Mr. Vallabh contested the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections from Udaipur constituency. However, the BJP candidate won comfortably by a margin of over 32,000 votes.

Mr Vallabh first contested the polls in 2019 in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur east, where he polled more than 18,000 voters, finishing third behind then Chief Minister Raghubar Das Das and Saryu Roy.

He further claimed that the Congress party was moving in the wrong direction and was violating the “fundamental principles of the party”.

“Today, the party is moving in the wrong direction. On one hand, we are talking about caste-based census and on the other hand, the party seems to be against the entire Hindu society. This way of working sends a misleading message to the people of India. “Public The belief is that the party is only a supporter of a particular religion. This violates the fundamental principles of Congress,” he said.

Mr Vallabh’s resignation comes after boxer Vijender Singh defected to the BJP.
