“Came very early in practice”: Virat Kohli-Shubman Gill reunite after T20 World Cup squad announcement cricket news

Gujarat Titans are all set to avenge their big defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore as both the teams will face each other once again on Saturday. In their previous encounter, GT scored a total of 200/3 in 20 overs, which RCB easily achieved in just 16 overs. Will Jacques was the real hero of that clash with his brilliant unbeaten century off 41 balls. The upcoming match will be important for both the teams as these two points can play an important role in the qualification for the playoffs.

Before the match in Bengaluru, GT captain Shubman Gill reached the practice ground, where he met RCB star Virat Kohli and the two gave an adorable moment to the fans. The meeting took place a few days after the T20 World Cup was announced by the BCCI. Shubman Gill has been kept in reserve while Kohli is part of the team.

As soon as Gill met Kohli, Kohli pulled his leg by saying, “Badi jaldi aaya practice mein (You came so early for practice)!”.

Talking about the current IPL form, Kohli has scored a total of 500 runs in 10 matches and he is one of the highest run-scorers of the season. His account includes one century and four half-centuries.

Gill, on the other hand, has had an average performance with the bat and has managed to score 320 runs in 10 matches. His strike rate is 140.97 while his batting average is 35.56.

Apart from the IPL, Kohli has been named in India’s 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. However, Gill has failed to earn a spot as the selectors have named captain Rohit Sharma and young Yashasvi Jaiswal as the two opening batsmen for the marquee event.

Gill has been kept in the reserves along with Rinku Singh, Khalil Ahmed and Avesh Khan.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya returned to international cricket and will serve as Rohit’s deputy in the World Cup. Apart from him, Chennai Super Kings batsman Shivam Dubey has also been kept in the team.
