Ghaziabad:

A 15-year-old boy is in critical condition after being bitten by a neighbor’s dog Tuesday afternoon.

The incident, which was captured on CCTV, was reported from Ghaziabad, neighboring Delhi.

The video shows a man and a woman watching from a distance but not intervening as the bulldog charged at the boy, Altaf, who was thrown to the ground.

The video shows the boy kicking his legs violently and rolling on the ground in an attempt to get the dog off him. Someone splashed water to distract the dog. The boy managed to get up and run to safety, with the dog still following him.

The video further shows Altaf holding on to the door and trying to get in when the street dog lunges at the pit bull and the boy manages to get inside.

The family to which the pet dog belongs recently moved to Ghaziabad.

The dog has been impounded by the municipal corporation.

Neighbor Kamlesh Singh said the family was warned that this type of dog was not accepted here.

According to local police, no complaints have been received regarding this matter.

The boy is currently undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital.

Last month, the central government directed states to ban the sale and breeding of 23 ferocious dog breeds, including pit bulls, American bulldogs, Rottweilers and mastiffs, amid rising incidents of pet dog attacks.
